Milan Svoboda at Reduta Prague
The music of Milan Svoboda’s Quartet connects with the tradition of modern jazz of the 60’s and 70’s. Influence of rock, folklore and contemporary classical music appears in the music also. Milan Svoboda sorts his compositions into greater thematic ensembles. That way all the band members have room for their creative improvisations. He and his Quartet had concerts almost all over Europe, in the USA and in India. They took part in quite a number of jazz festivals and recorded a lot of LP albums. His appearance at the first year of the “European Jazz Night” in Vienna was very prestigious. The TV Company EBU broadcasted it into all of Europe.
During the 25year existence a number of top Czech Jazzmen went through the band. In the short “American” period Greg Badolato and Aaron Scott played in the band. Internationally appreciated personalities often appear as guests such as Tony Lakatos, Sigi Finkel, Jarek Smietana, Jiri Stivin and many others. Every member of the final line-up of Milan Svoboda Quartet is an elite soloist. They cooperate with the top Czech jazz bands. The repertoire consists of mainly the original compositions of Milan Svoboda and his authentic arrangements of world jazz literature.
Milan Svoboda Quartet is an often guest at European music festivals and jazz clubs.
